Melvin Powers
Famous
for his publishing and mail order powers, is a man by the name of
Melvin Powers. Powers has a book entitled “How to Get Rich in Mail
Order” which has propelled the prominence of “Melvin Powers” to become
a house-hold name in the mail order industry. Currently, Powers acts as
a consultant. He teaches his many techniques on increasing company
sales.
Powers is also a hefty publisher of several interesting books. The name
of his publishing and distribution firm is called the Wilshire Book
Company, which is based in Southern California. Powers’ books cover
many topics aside from marketing, sales and mail order. Other topics of
his books include sports, chess, bridge, pets and other hobbies.
Nonetheless, his true passion is definitely in the mail order industry
where he markets and sells these books.
He is also famous for purchasing the rights to the book “Think and Grow
Rich” by Napoleon Hill. This was an ingenious move and has sold
millions of copies. He has done the same with several other books. One
book called “Psycho-Cybernetics”, by Dr. Maxwell Maltz sold over five
million copies. Another book he purchased rights to was entitled “How
to Write a Hit Song and Sell It”, by Tommy Boyce. Interestingly, he
also went into developing songs with Boyce and did quite well in the
western music charts. He even received an award for the song “Who Wants
a Slightly Used Woman”.
Powers visits book stores constantly. He keeps looking for the next big
thing and may one day become a major publishing company able to compete
against the Titans.
